Using this currency converter
This tool helps you convert cash from one currency into another for travel budgeting, online shopping, freelance invoices, or quick spot checks before a transfer. Type an amount in the top field, choose your from and to currencies from the dropdowns, and read the converted value immediately. Tap the swap control to flip currencies without retyping.
More than one hundred currencies are available — including the US Dollar, UK Pound, Euro, Australian Dollar, Japanese Yen, Swiss Franc, Canadian Dollar, and Ghanaian Cedi. The widget shows the quoted exchange rate (for example, 1 USD = 11.28 GHS) plus the time of the latest update in UTC so you know how fresh the number is.
Where the exchange rates come from
Rate data is supplied by Xe.com using mid-market values — the midpoint between buy and sell prices in the wholesale FX market. Mid-market rates are widely used for fair reference conversions because they exclude retail spreads and transfer fees. The converter refreshes frequently; the exact timestamp appears beneath the fields.
Important: banks, card issuers, and money-transfer services often add margins, so the rate you receive when sending money may differ from the mid-market figure shown here. Use this tool for planning and comparison, not as a guaranteed send rate.
Currency pairs and versatility
You can pair almost any supported currency with another — useful when you earn in one country, spend in another, or price goods for international customers. Common workflows include:
- Travel — estimate hotel, food, and transport costs in local money before you fly.
- Shopping — compare foreign storefront prices to your home currency at checkout.
- Investing & business — translate revenue, expenses, or quotes without opening a trading terminal.
- Education — see how exchange rates move between major and emerging-market currencies.

Examples and use cases
Worked example

- Reverse: €500 ÷ 0.92 ≈ $543.48
Real-world use cases
- Travel budgeting: A tourist estimates hotel and meal costs in Thai baht before a two-week trip, using live rates to set a daily spending cap in home currency.
- Freelance invoicing: A developer bills a UK client in pounds but tracks income in dollars — converting each payment for tax and cash-flow planning.
- Import cost check: A retailer compares a supplier quote in yuan to their local currency to decide whether landed cost beats domestic wholesale.
