How to change audio volume online
Volume (gain) scales how loud a track plays and exports. Quiet voice notes often need a boost; clipped streams may need a reduction. This changer previews live, then bakes your preference when you save.
- Upload audio — drop MP3, WAV, or another supported file.
- Adjust Volume — move the gain control while playing. Watch levels with your ear, not only the number.
- Combine if needed — trim edges or tame tone with the Equalizer before final export.
- Save — download in your preferred format. Editing stays on your device.
Gain vs normalize vs limiter
| Approach | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Volume / gain | Multiplies level by a constant | Simple louder/quieter fixes |
| Normalize (Effects) | Raises peaks toward a target ceiling | Under-recorded takes that need max headroom |
| Compressor / limiter | Controls dynamic range | Uneven speech and sudden spikes |
Start with Volume for a quick change. If the take is soft overall, try Normalize from Effects. If words jump from whisper to shout, use Compressor after a modest gain bump.
Avoid distortion when boosting
- Raise gain in small steps and listen for crackling on the loudest syllables.
- If peaks already hit the ceiling, lower first or use a hard limiter / compressor instead of raw gain.
- Pair with the Audio Equalizer to cut muddy low end before boosting — perceived loudness often improves without extra clipping.
