Batch convert images to WebP online

WebP is a modern image format that often produces smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar visual quality — ideal for faster websites and lighter email attachments. This converter processes every file in your browser using the Canvas API. Add JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, ICO, BMP, or AVIF files, tune quality and scale, then download WebP outputs instantly. No account, no server upload, no limits.

  1. Add images — drag files onto the drop zone or click Add files. Select as many images as you need in one batch.
  2. Set quality & size — choose a WebP quality preset (80% is a solid default) and optional scale (x1 keeps original dimensions).
  3. Review the queue — each thumbnail shows a checkmark when conversion finishes. Open per-image settings to override quality or scale for one file.
  4. Download — save a single WebP with the card button, or use Download all to save every converted file.

Why convert to WebP?

Benefit What it means for you
Smaller files Faster page loads, lower bandwidth, better Core Web Vitals scores
Transparency support Replace PNG for UI graphics when browsers in your audience support WebP
Wide browser support All major desktop and mobile browsers decode WebP natively
Batch workflow Convert an entire folder of assets in one session without desktop software

Supported input formats

JPG and JPEG photos, PNG graphics with transparency, animated GIF (first frame exported), SVG vector art, Windows ICO icons, uncompressed BMP, and AVIF files can all be re-encoded as WebP. SVG and ICO are rasterized to pixels at their natural dimensions before encoding.

Quality and size settings

Quality controls lossy WebP compression — higher values preserve more detail but produce larger files. Start around 80% for web photos; lower values help thumbnails or background images where fine detail matters less.

Size (scale) multiplies width and height before encoding. Use x0.5 or x0.25 when you need responsive variants or smaller previews without opening a separate resizer.

Privacy — no uploads

Files never leave your device. Conversion runs entirely in JavaScript on your computer, so confidential screenshots, client assets, and personal photos stay private. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool will still work.

Limitations

  • Animated GIF — only the first frame is exported to static WebP. Keep the original GIF for animation.
  • Very large images — extremely high resolutions may hit browser memory limits; scale down first if conversion fails.
  • CMYK print JPG — browser canvas works in RGB; colors may shift slightly.
